A chip can be easy to overlook when it is small and away from the center of the windshield. The problem is that its appearance alone does not tell you whether it is suitable for repair or whether the surrounding glass has been compromised.

Warwick Auto Glass provides chip repair, crack filling, windshield replacement, and mobile service for Johnston drivers. Explore our chip repair options to understand the available services.

What Matters When Assessing a Chip

Repair suitability can depend on several factors:

• Size of the damaged area
• Depth and type of damage
• Position on the windshield
• Proximity to the glass edge
• Whether other cracks are present
• Condition of the surrounding glass

A small-looking chip is not automatically repairable, and a repair cannot be promised before the damage is assessed.

What Repair Can and Cannot Do

A suitable windshield repair may help address the damage and reduce the likelihood of further spreading.

It may not remove every visible mark. If the damage affects the driver's view or falls outside applicable repair criteria, replacement may be the appropriate option.

When a Crack Changes the Conversation

A spreading crack deserves renewed attention even if the original chip seemed minor.

Describe the current damage rather than relying on how it looked when first noticed.

Warwick Auto Glass also offers full windshield replacement when repair is not appropriate.

Johnston Auto Glass FAQs

Can you repair a chip near the windshield edge?

Location can affect suitability; the damage needs assessment.

What if the chip has become a long crack?

Replacement may be necessary depending on the damage.
